Reconstruction of Langå Sognegård
– with bricks from the former church office and meeting room buildings
Before the two buildings, which formerly constituted Langå Sognegård, were demolished, bricks were taken from the facades and tested. So, even before demolition, it was certain that the old bricks would be a very good building material for Langå’s – new – church office and meeting room buildings.
The developer knew that the bricks were suitable for recycling and that the mortar was suitable for cleaning, and was able to write the tender documents in such a way that the demolition contractor was aware of how the bricks would be handled.
It doesn’t take much to secure usable bricks from a demolition, but it’s important that this is noted from the start so that everyone is aware of the premise and can act on it throughout the project.
The developer also avoids the potential risk that an accidental misunderstanding could mean that the bricks are suddenly degraded and crushed or used as base filling.
The pallets of cleaned bricks are stored at Gamle Mursten until the building site is ready to receive them.
